Support

The Spring Point Ledge Light Trust needs your help to keep the lights burning. Consider volunteering, becoming a partner, or donate to help support our mission.

Volunteers

Volunteers lead tours, teach visitors about the lighthouse and its historic role in Portland Harbor, and point out the landmarks surrounding the lighthouse. Tours include not only our regular summer weekend openings, but special group tours that arrive via bus and cruise ship. Volunteers also staff the ticket shed at the foot of the breakwater, interacting with passersby and our visitors, serving often as the first point of contact with the public.

Our volunteers receive classroom training and materials before the season opens, usually in May. People joining our team later in the season will receive training materials and individual orientation during regular open house events. New volunteers are paired with an experienced Keeper until they are comfortable with guiding tours. Our goal is to make your experience fun and rewarding.

Volunteers are a critical part of the Trust’s success in maintaining and preserving the lighthouse. Opening the lighthouse for tours raises all the money needed to sustain the Trust, operate the lighthouse and gift shop and do routine maintenance and repairs.

    Partners

Like all non-profits, we depend on support from the community we serve to further our mission. We are always looking for opportunities to establish partnerships with other non-profits and businesses that are mutually beneficial and help in maintaining the lighthouse for years to come.

If your organization wants to become involved with the lighthouse, contact us at info@springpointledgelight.org.
